Writing 201 – Poetry

Assignment

“Today’s word is trust write a poem in which you address, reflect on, or tell a story about the feeling of trusting or being trusted by another (person, animal, object, potted plant…).  Or about distrusting them (or not being trusted yourself).”

Bright sunny morning, yesterday.

Rested great the evening before.

Even positive of outcome today.

After five years, no recurrence.

Satisfied mammogram clear and okay.

Trust broken image not clear today.

Sadly, breasts may not be okay!

Prompted by a suggestion from fellow blogger, Karuna, to participate in Writing 201-Poetry, I printed down Day 3’s Assignment this morning.

First, “what the heck is meant by acrostic“?  Googled and found the answer and said to Hubby, “Oh I did something like that, and didn’t even know it, shortly after Chelsea was born.”

Chelsea Yvonne is our 23-year-old granddaughter.

I was so overjoyed with the birth of this beautiful new baby, with my name and birthday, that I created what I thought, at the time, was a poetic Welcome New Baby Card:

Cuddly

Huggable

Enchanting

Lovable

Sweetheart

Embraced, and

Adored

This stab at poetry twenty-three years ago as well as this assignment today are my poetic words written from the heart.

During this final season life, I am going on a journey to define "ME." Opening up and going outside of my comfort zone to redefine ME.. Exploring and pursuing new interests that will lead to personal happiness, serenity, and tranquility. In undertaking this mission, overcoming the FEAR is my greatest challenge. Fear has played a large role in my life, but I overcame the FEAR of breast cancer, chronic pain associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and Sleep Apnea. My new mantra: FEAR has two meanings: "(1) Forget Everything And Run, or (2) Face Everything and Rise. The Choice is Mine." Blogging here I come ready or not!!!

      1. “A Sharecropper’s Son Achieves the American Dream, is a book of memoirs written by my Hubby, James C. Thomas. The excepts I shared sound like they may have occurred during slavery, but actually took place during the 1940s and 50s in rural Mississippi.

    1. Thank you for the positive comments. Though poetically-challenged, I am grateful that blogging has opened the door to poetry and the people that are gifted with poetic words. Though, I only did one lesson from Writing 201, I bookmarked all of them because learning more about the different types of poetry is something that I want to explore further.
